Buddy Box (Turbine Jet) Thursday

What have you got to lose?

We will have two experienced Jet Pilots ready to “buddy box” with any AMA Member that has basic flying skills.

You do not need a Jet Wavier, just a desire to expand the scope of your flying skills.

Peter Liu (Baha Hobbies) and Michael Lin (Global Jet Club) will have “full on” turbine jets ready for you to fly. How can you pass up an opportunity to get behind the sticks of a Turbine Jet- with ZERO probability of a crash?

Get this on your schedule and sign up at the registration desk which opens at 8am on September 9th. Based on the response so far, Peter and Mike will be VERY busy so sign up early and have FUN!!

We will have a designated (and heavily traveled area) between the tent and the food concession for vendor booths. All vendors booths (plus the dining tent) will have full time security. All vendor booths will have electricity. Vendors fly for free.

We are lucky to have the following vendors take the time and make the effort to step up and provide “On Site” presence with a booth and offer there time to make this hobby better!!

Global Jet Club - Mike Lin has donated the Display Jet you will see when you drive through the entrance into the AMOS field. Mike has also offered to supply a plane and his time to Buddy Box fly on Thursday September 9th with any AMA Member who would like to fly a Turbine powered jet for the first time. global jet club
Baha Hobbies - Peter Liu has also offered to supply a plane and his time to Buddy Box fly on Thursday September 9th with any AMA Member who would like to fly a Turbine powered jet for the first time. baja hobby
Paul Stenberg is representing both ZAP and House of Balsa. Paul has also offered to supply a plane and his time to Buddy Box fly on Thursday September 9th with any AMA Member who would like to fly a Turbine powered jet for the first time.

AMOS Field Map

We will have two designated spectator seating areas with plenty of chairs and great sound. Spectators will be free to wonder- behind the taped off pit areas. We are promoting this event via social media and local TV stations and expect well over 300 spectators. On Saturday at noon spectators will be asked to review all the planes (on the tarmac) and vote for their favorite- for the Peoples’ Choice Award. The results of this voting will be tallied on Saturday afternoon and the winner of the People’s Choice Award will be presented at the awards dinner.

Our Field and Safety

We have a 575’ runway with endless groomed “run outs.” We have over 100 acres of field space, all of which is flat and does not have any obstructions (rock, shrubs, trees). Think of it as 100 plus acres of emergency landing area. Our field has a 2 degree slope away and down from the pits and runway so you are slightly above the flying area with a great view.

The fire department burns our field each summer, so our fire hazard factor is very low although we will have a quad loaded with water extinguishers, shovels and fire-retardant equipment plus our 525 gallon Water Trailer. Our Safety Officer will be at the field during flying hours.

We will provide 2 hand washing stations and several Purell hand sanitizer pump bottles.

Security

We will have club volunteers plus a professional security company serving as our security patrol. We will pay particular attention to the tent area, vendor area and RV parking.

We will also invite our local law enforcement officers to swing by every so often.

Promoting Our Hobby

In the Schedule above, we will stop flying for 1 1/2 hours at Noon on Saturday which is for the “People’s Choice” Voting and some exhibition flying. The purpose is simple- we need to invest in our hobby by bringing in new people and the best way to do this is create interest. By involving spectators in “our world” and an opportunity to get closer to the planes and pilots we will get more people to understand what hooked us. Our noon Peoples’ Choice voting will be followed by a 3D, Heli and Extreme Jets (Mophisto) demonstration. Our target audience here is the spectators, so we can give them a “flavor” for some of the other things this hobby has to offer.

This area is on compacted AB gravel and we will provide carpeted access from these rows to the flight line. You may want to bring a piece of carpet for your space.

We will have some EZ-Up space available at the south end of the pits. See Event Site Map on web site (AMOSRC.com). This space is on compacted AB gravel and available on a “first come- first serve” basis.

We will run several strings of “market lights” across the pit canopies for safety and security purposes at night.

Buddy Box Thursday

Vendors

Baha Hobbies - Peter Liu has also offered to supply a plane and his time to Buddy Box fly on Thursday September 9th with any AMA Member who would like to fly a Turbine powered jet for the first time. baja hobby

Spectators

We will have two designated spectator seating areas with plenty of chairs and great sound. Spectators will be free to wonder- behind the taped off pit areas. We are promoting this event via social media and local TV stations and expect well over 300 spectators. On Saturday at noon spectators will be asked to review all the planes (on the tarmac) and vote for their favorite- for the Peoples’ Choice Award. The results of this voting will be tallied on Saturday afternoon and the winner of the People’s Choice Award will be presented at the awards dinner.

Safety & Security
